[Pharmacological Action]
Pharmacodynamics: Florfenicol belongs to the amphenicol class of broad-spectrum antibiotics and acts as a bacteriostatic agent. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosome, exerting its effects and demonstrating strong antibacterial activity against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Hemolytic Pasteurella, Mannheimia haemolytica, and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae are highly sensitive to florfenicol. In vitro, florfenicol exhibits antibacterial activity similar to or stronger than thiamphenicol against many microorganisms. Some bacteria resistant to amphenicol due to acetylation, such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, may still be sensitive to florfenicol.
Pharmacokinetics: Florfenicol is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, reaching therapeutic concentrations in the blood approximately one hour later, with peak blood concentrations achieved in 1 to 3 hours. The bioavailability is above 80%. Florfenicol is widely distributed in the animal body and can penetrate the blood-brain barrier. It is primarily excreted in urine in its unchanged form, with a small amount excreted in feces.
[Product Efficacy]
Florfenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic . Used for bacterial diseases of livestock, poultry and aquaculture caused by sensitive bacteria.
1. Livestock:Florfenicol powder is widely utilized in veterinary medicine to address bacterial infections in pigs, cows, and sheep. For pigs, it is commonly employed for treating respiratory infections, pasteurellosis, and swine respiratory disease complex (SRDC). For cows, florfenicol may be used to combat mastitis, respiratory infections, and bacterial infections associated with foot rot. For sheep, it is utilized to address respiratory infections and bacterial infections linked to foot rot. |
2. Poultry:Florfenicol powder is widely utilized in veterinary practice to treat bacterial infections in poultry, including chickens, ducks, and geese. It is commonly employed for respiratory infections caused by pathogens such as Pasteurella multocida or Mycoplasma gallisepticum, as well as for conditions like colibacillosis and chronic respiratory disease. |
3.Aquaculture:Florfenicol powder is commonly employed in aquaculture to treat bacterial infections in fish, shrimp, crab, and sea cucumber. For fish, it proves effective against bacterial gill infections and Enteric Redmouth Disease (ERM). For shirimp, shrimp farming benefits from florfenicol in combatting Necrotizing Hepatopancreatitis (NHP). For crabs, it helps control bacterial infections. For sea cucumbers, florfenicol is utilized to address bacterial issues and promote overall health. |
