Indication:
It is primarily used to treat infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria that are sensitive to amoxicillin.
1.Bacterial Infections: It is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections in animals, including those affecting the respiratory tract, urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, skin, and soft tissues.
2.Respiratory Infections: Effective against bacterial respiratory infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia.
3.Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Used to treat bacterial infections of the urinary tract.
4.Gastrointestinal Infections: Administered for bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal system.
5.Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Used for treating abscesses, wounds, and other skin infections.
6.Post-Surgical Infections: Often administered as a prophylactic measure to prevent infections after surgery.
7.Mastitis: Used in dairy cattle to treat and prevent mastitis, which is an infection of the mammary glands.
Dosage and administration:
For Cattle, Sheep, and Goats:
· Dosage: 7-15 mg per kg of body weight.
· Administration: Administration: Intramuscular (IM) or subcutaneous (SC) injection.
· Frequency: Typically administered once daily.
For Swine:
· Dosage:15 mg per kg of body weight.
· Administration: Intramuscular (IM) injection.
· Frequency:Usually given once daily.
For Dogs and Cats:
· Dosage:5-10 mg per kg of body weight.
· Administration: Intramuscular (IM) or subcutaneous (SC) injection.
· Frequency:Generally administered twice daily.
Precautions:
1.It is contraindicated in animals allergic to penicillins.
2.Use with caution in animals with impaired kidney or liver function. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.
3.Administer the correct dosage as prescribed by a veterinarian. Overdosing can cause toxicity, while underdosing may lead to ineffective treatment and resistance development.
4.Shake the vial well before use.
5.Store amoxicillin injection in a cool, dry place away from light and out of reach of children and animals.
