Indication:
It is primarily indicated for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria susceptible to tylosin. Some common indications include:
1.Respiratory Infections: Tylosin is effective against respiratory infections in cattle, swine, and poultry, such as pneumonia and bronchitis.
2.Gastrointestinal Infections: Used to treat infections in the digestive system, such as enteritis.
3.Mycoplasma Infections: Often used to treat infections caused by Mycoplasma species, which can affect the respiratory and urogenital tracts.
4.Foot Infections: It can be used to treat foot infections like foot rot in cattle and sheep.
5.Mastitis: Tylosin may be used for treating mastitis in cattle.
Dosage and administration:
For Cattle and Swine:
· Respiratory Infections: Typically, 8-10 mg/kg body weight (BW) once daily for 3-5 days.
· Foot Rot: Usually, 8-10 mg/kg BW once daily for 3-5 days.
· Mastitis: 10 mg/kg BW once daily for 3 days.
For Poultry:
· Respiratory Infections: Generally, 50 mg/kg BW once daily for 3-5 days.
Administration:
· Route: Tylosin Injection 5% is administered intramuscularly (IM) or subcutaneously (SC).
· Injection Site: Administer deep into the muscle mass or subcutaneously under the skin.
· Dilution: It can be diluted in sterile water for injection before administration, following the manufacturer's recommendations.
· Frequency: Depending on the condition and severity, injections are typically given once daily for a specified number of days as determined by the veterinarian.
Precautions:
1.Monitor animals for signs of hypersensitivity reactions during treatment. Discontinue use if any adverse reactions occur.
2.Use with caution in pregnant animals
3.Follow the recommended dosage and administration route precisely.
4.Store tylosin injection in a cool, dry place away from light and out of reach of children and animals.
Withdrawal period:
For meat
Cattle, sheep and swine: 14 days.
Milk: 5 days.
